Justin Bond and Kenny Mellman will bring their campy lounge act to the Helen Hayes as 'Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway' opens Aug. 15.

The lounge act that wouldn't die has finally clawed its way to Broadway.

After conquering Carnegie Hall in a 2004 concert, the downtown cult duo will hit the Rialto with "Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway." Playing a limited run through Sept. 10 at the Helen Hayes Theater, the show starts previews Aug. 11, with official opening set for Aug. 15.

Producers are David J. Foster, Jared Geller, Ruth Hendel, Jonathan Reinis Inc., Billy Zavelson and Jamie Cesa in association with Gary Allen, Anne Strickland Squadron and Melvin Honowitz.

In addition to producing long-running Off Broadway hit "Slava's Snowshow," Foster and Geller staged the Carnegie event "Kiki & Herb Will Die for You," as well as Rufus Wainwright's recent two-show re-creation of Judy Garland's legendary 1961 Carnegie concert.

The show is "written and executed" by Justin Bond and Kenny Mellman, the battered alter egos of Kiki and Herb, respectively. The Broadway showcase will serve to introduce the piano-and-vocal act to uninitiated audiences and offer new material for diehard fans as the boozy partners reflect on their eternal life on the stage.

Song selections will range from Melanie Safka, Kate Bush and the Cure to Alphaville and the Scissor Sisters, the Mountain Goats, Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes. Creative team includes Scott Pask (sets), Marc Happel (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting) and Brett Jarvis (sound).

The duo did their last New York run in "Kiki & Herb: Coup de Theatre" at Off Broadway's Cherry Lane in 2003.

The current Hayes tenant, Sarah Jones' "Bridge & Tunnel," closes Aug. 6 to make way for "Kiki & Herb," which will be followed Sept. 19 by ventriloquism show "Jay Johnson: The Two and Only." Box office for "Kiki & Herb" opens Friday.
